Some bosses have the chore of choosing items for their workers to commend them on a job well done. It is important that they feel appreciated and recognized for their hard work. It might even increase productivity and boost the morale of the department. Tangible items are great ways to motivate employees. Many companies have rewards or gifts for coworkers when they reach a milestone in their occupation.
It is common to receive a watch or bracelet for 10 to 25 years of service. Some companies give plaques or a certificate. But if you work in a small office and have this honor, you might wonder what are appropriate gifts for your employees. Many companies offer clothing with the company logo on it like t-shirts or polo shirts. There are also tote bags, coffee mugs, travel mugs, backpacks and stationery that would be great gift ideas for him or her.
You want to keep the gift generic so that no one will be offended if a co-worker receives a better gift. It would be much easier to give gift cards in one denomination so when an employee does a good job they will know what to expect. If you are celebrating a birthday and want to give a birthday gift, it would be better to make it from the group and not just the boss. It is very acceptable to take your employee to lunch for their birthday or to celebrate their company anniversary.
You could also give the responsibility to someone else or they might form a birthday club for co-workers. Birthday clubs are great and usually everyone that participates receives a party, cake and small gift. These are great for offices that are small and have fewer employees. Larger companies allow the human resource office to handle service anniversaries and awards for outstanding performance.
There is a system for commending such employees. Many times restaurant certificates, tickets to local events and movie tickets are awarded. During the holidays such as Christmas, some employees receive bonuses as Christmas gifts but if you are looking for other gifts to give wine, fruit baskets, candy or cookies are wonderful for office workers. Try to avoid the fruitcake. Cookies can be bought in cookie tins or boxes and are easy to wrap.
