How do you reward those that do a good job and never complain? In the workplace, you have to careful how you handle many situations and giving gifts is one of them. You don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. There are employment laws that must be recognized and there are proper items that are acceptable in rewarding employees. A coworker gift should never be too personal or offensive to the recipient. You should know a co-worker well enough to buy them something that will not cross the line of being unacceptable. Many people forge relationships with their co-worker and they feel comfortable in buying items for them.
Employee programs that are regulated by human resources or industrial relations will sometime have in place a program where employees will receive items to commemorate their anniversary with the company or for submitting a great idea or a suggestion for improvement that the company adopts. Monetary rewards can be associated with the “suggestion box’” programs. Gifts such as crystal, duffel bags, paintings or jewelry are part of the reward program for just being an employee. It gives an employee a little something to look forward to and helps the company retain employees by offering a form of recognition in a gift item.
